Jabalpur, 10 November 2024 – Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU) Jabalpur recently concluded its highly anticipated 4th Justice R.K. Tankha National Parliamentary Debate. The two-day event, sponsored by the Office of Shri Varun Tankha, Advocate at the Supreme Court of India, saw spirited participation from institutions nationwide, making it a grand success and a memorable highlight for all involved.

An Influx of Debating Talent from Across India

The 4th Justice R.K. Tankha Debate brought together more than 48 teams from diverse educational institutions, all competing to showcase their debating prowess. Across two days, participants engaged in rounds that tested their critical thinking and persuasive abilities. The event featured three preliminary rounds on Day 1, followed by a final preliminary round, semi-finals, novice finals, and the grand final on Day 2.

High-Caliber Debates and Intellectual Discourse

Throughout the event, participants delivered compelling arguments on various assigned themes, demonstrating their analytical skills and knowledge. The debate fostered an environment of intellectual rigor, where students not only honed their debating abilities but also engaged in meaningful discourse on pertinent issues.

Valedictory Ceremony: Celebrating Success and Innovation in Debating

The Valedictory Ceremony marked the conclusion of the event, with Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha addressing the attendees. He commended the organizing committee and celebrated the students' enthusiastic participation, which underscored the dedication of the DNLU community. His words of encouragement set a celebratory tone, lauding both organizers and participants for their unwavering commitment.

Inaugural Shastrartha Panel: “One Nation, One Election”

Following the Valedictory Ceremony, DNLU launched its inaugural Shastrartha Panel, featuring a discussion on “One Nation, One Election.” Esteemed panelists included:

  • Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Pro-Chancellor of IILM University
  • Prof. (Dr.) K.G. Suresh, President of the Global Media Education Council
  • Dr. Rakesh Pathak, Associate Editor at DBLive Channel

The panel, moderated by Dr. Ashit Kumar Srivastava, Assistant Professor of Law, provided students with a platform for critical thinking on national issues, fostering a well-rounded perspective on political and electoral dynamics.

To recognize the unwavering support of media professionals, journalists from various print and digital media outlets were honored during the panel discussion. This gesture was a testament to DNLU’s appreciation for the role of journalism in promoting informed dialogue and public awareness.
