Jabalpur, July 19, 2025 — Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, celebrated its Second Convocation Ceremony with grandeur and academic pride on Saturday, July 19, 2025. The event was held at the PDPM IIITDM Campus, Jabalpur, in the presence of esteemed dignitaries from the Indian judiciary.
Presidential Address by Hon’ble Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva
The convocation was presided over by Hon’ble Shri Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court and Chancellor of the University. His Lordship conferred degrees on the graduating students and delivered the Presidential Address. Justice Sachdeva emphasized the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in law, urging graduates to adopt human-centered advocacy and ensure that technology serves justice and society. His remarks underlined the importance of values-driven legal practice in the modern world.
Convocation Address by Hon’ble Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari
Hon’ble Shri Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari, Judge of the Supreme Court of India and the Visitor of the University, was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. In his Convocation Address, Justice Maheshwari urged the graduating class to uphold constitutional values and work diligently to ensure justice reaches even the most marginalised. He called upon students to embody character, service, and sensitivity to social realities, advocating for a legal practice rooted in empathy, integrity, and adaptability in a rapidly evolving legal and technological landscape.
Keynote Address by Hon’ble Justice Satish Chandra Sharma
The Guest of Honour, Hon’ble Shri Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, delivered the Keynote Address. His Lordship invoked the ancient Indian philosophies of Dharma and Nyaya to guide the legal reasoning of future lawyers and urged graduates to remain committed to justice and righteousness in their careers.
Special Address by Hon’ble Justice Rajendra Menon
Adding further depth to the event, Hon’ble Shri Justice Rajendra Menon, Chairperson of the Armed Forces Tribunal and Special Guest for the occasion, addressed the gathering. Justice Menon stressed the importance of mediation, ethical lawyering, and the need for lawyers to act as social facilitators in addition to legal practitioners.
University Highlights by Vice Chancellor and Registrar
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. (Dr) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor of DNLU. He shared the university’s progress and achievements in academics, research, and outreach during the year. Following this, Dr. Praveen Tripathi, Registrar of DNLU, administered the formal degree and gold medal distribution process.

This year, 102 students received their undergraduate degrees, while 46 students completed their postgraduate studies.
A total of twelve gold medals were awarded in recognition of outstanding academic performance across undergraduate, postgraduate, and sponsored categories.

- Meena Ram Gold Medal – awarded for excellence in International Law
